About Kat

Hey, I’m Kat Wells. If you wanted to put a label on me; I am a lesbian – I don’t believe in labels but that is one I can fully take pride in! I am starting on my journey to becoming an LGBTQ activist. I know what you’re thinking – another young person that wants to make a difference in the world but wont; right? Well that’s not true! This mission is taking me to starting “Pride Space Inc.”; my safe house for the LGBTQ community!

Originally I was born and raised in Fort Wayne, Indiana and loved every minute of it. My parents got a divorce and we moved out to Connecticut so my mother could be with her high school sweetheart! Of course I did the whole high school and graduation thing then did the right thing and went to college. Before I went to college is when I officially came out to my parents because my girlfriend at the time was going to be staying over for a week. My mom’s defense was that it is just a phase and still to this day she wishes I marry a man. I keep telling her that it’s not going to happen because I was born a lesbian and I will die a lesbian. (Sorry mom.) I was at Bay Path College for 2 years and ended up leaving school. I left school because of a lot of personal and money issues. I will be going back to school once I get where I am going. I can’t wait! Now my girlfriend, Jessica and I are getting an apartment together in Westfield, Massachusetts where we are going to start our safe house. I am an extremely unique individual! I have a fish named Alvin and a chinchilla named Barnaby. I can go girly one day with makeup and high heels then boyish the next with my converse and pink plaid sunglasses. But that is what makes me who I am and I would not change it for the world.

I have had my fair share of bumps in the road and they will keep going but every night I tell myself that I can do it- That I can change the world. I believe in peace and that everyone should be happy from the moment they are born because my life was the total opposite of that. I never want to see anyone go through what I went through. I guess because of my stubbornness of never changing my ways I ended up here; blogging for an amazing foundation that could make me or break me!

My blog is going to be my journey to creating and maintaining my safe house! In my first blog I voiced that I would love your input to what I am doing and how I could change it or even any suggestions that you might have! So please comment or email me, wells4191(at)gmail(dot)com, or find “Pride Space Inc.” on facebook to help! I don’t know how to do this without all of your help!
